Teresa Bryce Bazemore

Teresa Bryce Bazemore has more than 25 years experience as a Senior Executive in the mortgagebanking field including building both mortgage insurance and services businesses.Ms. Bazemore has proven expertise at creating and implementing strategic plans to increase market share and profitability, while improving the risk profile – even during challenging economic times. 

 

Teresa currently serves on the Board of Directors of Chimera Investment Corporation and the T Rowe Price Funds.  Until her recent move to California, she also served as a Director for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.  She is also the CEO of Bazemore Consulting LLC.  From her executive and legal experience, as well as her corporate and non-profit board experience, she has expertisein corporate governance, succession planning, enterprise risk management, executive compensation, strategic planning and audit committee matters.

 

From July 2008 through April 2017, Teresa served as the President of Radian Guaranty where she led the strategic planning, business development and operations of the mortgage insurance business line. She has also led information technology and governmental affairs for Radian Group. 

 

Under her tenure, the market share of the company rose from 14% to over 19%.  In addition, she also implemented new programs to enhance loss mitigation, which resulted in more than 1.5 billion in savings.  The changes in risk management that she spearheaded as Chief Risk Officer also led to a reduction in the default ratio from 3.5% to less than .15%.

 

Prior to her position as President, Teresa held two jobs concurrently within Radian Group (NYSE: RDN) functioning both as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, as well as the CRO. She advised the Board on corporate governance matters and worked with all of the board committees, including Audit, Credit and HR/Compensation. During this time, she took over the business and led a three-year transformation of Radian’s credit risk and enterprise risk profiles and successfully navigated a challenging proposed merger. 

 

Considered a leader in the field, Ms. Bazemore has held a multitude of professional appointments including: Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Economic Advisory Council; Chair, Research Institute for Housing America; Fannie Mae National Advisory Council; Consumer Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve; and Advisory Committee of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators. She has served on the following: 

 

  • Mortgage Bankers Task Force on the Future of the Secondary Market  

  • Director, Mortgage Bankers Association of America  

  • Mortgage Bankers Residential Board of Governors  

  • US Mortgage Insurers Board of Directors

 

Over the course of her career, Teresa has received a host of awards and accolades including:

Teresa received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Columbia University.
